Genealogy Guys Learn Releases Another New Video Course for April

Everyone is staying home working on their genealogy and accessing educational materials. The Genealogy Guys Learn subscribers are no different.

We just released a new video today titled Locating and Ordering English and Welsh BMDs. It provides background on Civil Registration which began in England and Wales on 1 July 1837, describes what is in each of the birth, death, and burial records, and how to use indexes to obtain the necessary reference information for ordering records from the General Register Office (GRO). The GRO website is shown and described in detail and the process registering and ordering the BMDs is detailed.

Civil Registrations continue to this day, as do parish registers. Prior to Civil Registration, church parish records were the only resources for christenings, marriages, and burials. You can use BMDs and coexisting parish records in your research, and then the Civil Registration records can help you continue backward in history into parish registers for further research. Our written course, Anglican Parish Registers in England, will help you learn more about those records and extend your research backward in time - perhaps to 1534 when King Henry VIII dictated that the Church of England parishes would continue keeping parish records after his break with Rome. Parish registers kept by the Catholics may also survive, helping you to research back even farther.

We add new content every month to Genealogy Guys Learn, and this time of crisis is a perfect time for more content releases. Subscribers will see new courses "Coming Soon" and they will be released to help you expand your education.

HAPPY HUNTING!
